Hollywood Community Church Corona Virus Update 5/22/2020
I continue to rejoice as I hear stories of how the Lord is using YOU, our HCC family, to minister during this unique time. Many of you are serving neighbors, loving on the hurting and feeding the hungry. We may not be able to regather together yet, but we can still fulfill our mission. Let me thank you for faithfully being God’s visible demonstration of love. Let’s keep being the church!
Please know that I greatly miss you! Vickie can attest, that my heart aches on Sundays as I long to be with you, my faith family. Our HCC leadership team is working very hard to develop a game plan for regathering. However, we have four goals for when we regather.
We want to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We want to assure the safety of you and your family.
We want to provide an environment that results in heartfelt worship, vibrant fellowship and encouraging Bible teaching.
We want to follow all of the CDC and local guidelines.
Our goal is to regather sometime in the early part of June. I wish I could give you a specific date, but we hope to have that information for you in the near future. This week I read two articles of churches that regathered early, but had to go back to online services quickly, because of an influx of COVID-19 cases within the congregation. We don’t want that to happen to HCC. Be assured, we will be back together soon!
However, our regathering will be a little different. We will not be able to hug, we will have to maintain social distancing and we will probably have to wear face masks. Those things will be difficult. Nevertheless, we will, at least, be able to meet together. Our auditorium is big enough that the majority of our HCC family can worship together and still be safe.
We also realize that not everybody will want to come back right away. That is okay! There is not a spiritually right or wrong time to return. You are not more spiritual if you come back right away or less spiritual if you stay home and watch online. We fully believe that it is a personal and a family decision. We desire to minister well to our church family, whether you are physically in the building or at home.
Let me ask you to do two things…
PRAY – Pray for the HCC leadership that we will clearly hear from God as to the timing of our coming back together. Pray for God to maintain unity in the midst of our diversity. Pray for God to continue to build His Church at HCC.
BE THE CHURCH! Although these are unique times, God is still at work. I would remind you that historically God has used times of separation as an opportunity for the Church to grow.
It was the scattering of the early Church that propelled its growth (Acts 8:4). Let’s look for ways to be the Church until we can regather as a Church.
Next Sunday, May 31st @ 5:00 PM we will have an online communion service. This will be through Zoom. You will receive an email invite. We want our whole church family to participate. Please send us your email address if we do not have it.
Please know I love you and I am so honored to serve as one of your pastors. I would love to hear how God has worked in your life during this time. Has He provided for a need? Has He answered a prayer request? Send me a note at brian@ourhcc so I can rejoice with you.
Let’s go and be the Church!
